TIME’S MEMORIES

TIME’S MEMORIES

Mother laughed one day
At one of my poems
She read aloud hesitantly,
Waiting for the dig.
Then peeled out a laugh
Pure and unrehearsed,
She did.

Time, you thief,
In all your mischievous edits,
Who touches our memories,
And makes them wilt,

Remember this!

Mother laughed one day
At one of my poems.
Pure and unfettered
One single moment
Of joy.
