KATTY: THE UNKEMPT KITTEN
Katty was a Persian.
She had really, really long hair.
But Katty was a mess!
She had knots everywhere!
Katty had no one
To fix her long, long hair,
So it stuck out all over.
It stuck out everywhere!
To Katty, it didn’t matter.
She really didn’t care
That hair stuck out in lumps.
Lumps and bumps everywhere!
But all others who saw her
Would stop and just stare.
Her hair was such a fright.
It was just … everywhere!
Katty was so lonely.
No one wanted her around.
She spent her time alone,
Not ever making a sound.
Katty had decided,
A very long time ago,
That no one could ever love her.
No, not one soul.
One day as she sat watching
An owner petting their pet,
She realized what she was missing,
And she began to fret!
Could anyone ever love her?
Could anyone ever care?
Could anyone see her real self,
Underneath all that hair?
Katty started to groom herself,
With her sandpaper tongue.
Grooming felt so comfortable.
Grooming was quite fun!
Katty kept on grooming,
Through day and into the night.
When she finally finished,
She looked quite the sight!
Her long hair was silky,
So very, very smooth
It caused all hands around her
To want to reach out and move.
All wanted to touch her,
To hold her, and to pet her.
All hands wanted to sink
Into her long, silken, beautiful fur.
That was all nice and good and all,
But Katty had found something better.
She found, somewhere along the way,
Someone who could really love her.
She found the love she was seeking,
Way down deep inside.
She found love for herself,
And the love filled her with pride.
