CRABS IN A FISH BOWL

CRABS IN A FISH BOWL

“Earth to cindy, are you there?”
No, I am not, for I am elsewhere.

I’m flying a kite, high in the air,
To capture the sparklies I know are up there.

I picnic in jail, to make a point,
The only righteous place in this depraved joint.

I heal the sick, and teach to pray
You say I sin, because of the day?

I take one step, first man on the moon.
Playoffs are Friday?  You want me home soon?

Preference / Aversion, I seek to dispel
From all of our thoughts, mankind to make well.

Like crabs in a fish bowl, you pull me back under
As I climb free, my dreams you do sunder.

What have you done, to benefit others?
What have you done, besides spout out your ‘druthers’?

Minds should be free, to advance our species.
Quote me a sit-com, and I’ll read you a treatise.

Don’t pull me down to your mundane earth.
Soar with me out there, and abandon your dirth.

Our own contributions to this world let’s make
Not for the ego, but for everyone’s sake.
