Out: by Inner Child

Out: by Inner Child

These “me’s” that you may see
I’ve carried them far and wide
But for the life of me
I can’t cram them back inside

I’ve worn them most of my life
Peeking out, when we feels safe
Mostly hiding from the strife
Each one, a sad little waif

Once in a while
We comes out and plays
And talks to the you’s
In our own little ways

But for the most part
We sleep on the ride
Dreaming with one heart
We we’s, you you’s might abide

Uncomfortable, we makes you feel?
Pardon us, as we grow bold
While layer by layer we peel
And merge into one whole whole

The process, it really does hurt
The seeds of self we court
Buried for decades in dirt
But you you’s just see a wart

A mar on the face of the earth
A flaw, a scar, a mistake
We ask you, what’s a soul worth?
Give us time, so we can wake?

These “me’s” that you see thus
That we’ve carried so far and wide
For the life of all of us
We can’t hide anymore inside
