I AM LIKE YOU!

I remember when
I played with dolls
Bobbing them up and down
As I talked for them.

Am I like you?

I licked peanut butter
Off the spoon
And skinned my knee
And bit my tongue.

I remember when
They waved at me…
And I waved back
But they looked through me
At somebody else.

Am I like you?

I made dandelion chains
And found a four leaf clover
And sucked on trumpet vines
And ate the mulberries
Before they were ripe!

I fell in love
With a quiet one
Only to realize
They were afraid
Of me…

I climbed a tree
Had a bloody nose
I tripped on a curb
And stubbed my toe.
